The New Year has bounced out of the blocks and Building Connection is here to meet it head on, with thought provoking technical articles and cutting edge industry news.
Our first quarter edition is currently in the mail and what a beauty it is.
As our cover demonstrates, we’ve taken a serious look at the rapidly emerging pre-fabricated market. There are certainly some clear advantages with this off-site building process but there is also a danger of playing into international hands with more and more product likely to come in from Asia and further damage the local supply chain.
Governments are pouring research funds into Universities around Australia to develop new, efficient methods of construction based upon the attraction of reducing the cost of building (Government and private) – with little regard for local jobs and a lack of understanding of the compliance issues.
We also have our regular columns from our technical experts, as well as some interesting review articles.
One of those is a new alternate solution for fighting termites, which has recently completed a three-year field trial in Darwin with positive results. Greenzone is a termite proof expansion foam – certainly worth keeping an eye on this innovation as it comes to market.
And for something different, check out our excellent guidance article on what is (legally) acceptable on construction sites and any other work environment, in the way of swearing, surveillance and drug taking. It’s an eye opener.
