Students to travel on new pathway
A clear pathway is being set for construction students in Victoria through the development of a new partnership between Builders Academy Australia and Victoria University.
The partnership will guarantee direct entry into Victoria University’s Bachelor of Building (Construction Management) course for students who previously completed a Diploma of Building and Construction with Builders Academy. These graduates will also be given up to a year and a half worth of credit towards the Bachelor Degree which results in less time and less money spent to complete.
Builders Academy chief executive Andrew Shea says that the new partnership will obviously serve a huge range of people, but it’s a massive step in the right direction for students seeking tertiary opportunities.
“Builders Academy and Victoria University share the belief that education should be accessible via multiple pathways,” Andrew says.
“This partnership achieves that by facilitating a clear entry into a Bachelor degree for students who have chosen to initially study with a specialist vocational provider.”
The new pathway will also be seen as a huge benefit to students who want to pursue a career change or enhance their current skills with further education. This will be seen particularly beneficial for those students wanting to assess their options and interests before they commit to the degree.
There is also a plethora of advantages for students that complete the Bachelor degree as they gain an extended understanding of a specialised area as well as better employment and salary opportunities. For example, graduating with a Bachelor of Building (Construction Management) can lead to a range of job roles that vary from a property developer to a building technician.
Andrew is confident that the change in pathway will lead to a lot of benefits for students who are entering the university world. Not only will it alleviate pressure when it comes to the application process, it will also mean they are guaranteed an offer from Victoria University after their initial studies have finished.
“This really is an exceptionally exciting opportunity for people to receive a quality education from two reputable institutions on the way to establishing a career in the building construction industry.”
