The Australian Building Code Board (ABCB) has announced that the consultation period for changes proposed in the National Construction Code (NCC) 2019 is now open.

The ABCB is seeking feedback on the changes included in the NCC 2019 Public Comment Draft that have required assessment to determine the likely costs and benefits of their impact through Regulation Impact Analysis.

The four Consultation Regulation Impact Statements (RIS) the ABCB is seeking feedback on are listed below.

  • Accessible adult change facilities in public buildings
  • Fire safety in Class 2 and Class 3 residential buildings
  • Heating and cooling load limits for residential buildings
  • Energy efficiency in commercial buildings. The Consultation RIS for energy efficiency in commercial buildings will be available shortly and will be open for comment for six weeks from its release date.

The Consultation RIS’, as well as response sheets for each one can be downloaded from the ABCB Resource Library.

Feedback can be provided on the currently available RIS’ until close of business on Friday 13 April 2018 by responding to the questions provided in the relevant response sheet.
