DecoDeck timber-look decking wins prestigious Good Design Award
DecoDeck, the timber-looking aluminium decking system from DECO Australia has won this year’s Good Design Award at the Australian Good Design Awards.
The awards show celebrates the best new products in the Australian market and is a highly regarded award for design and innovation. It received the award in the Product Design Hardware and Building category, which recognises revolutionary and impactful architectural product designs.
The DecoDeck gives installers the natural appearance feel if timber while eliminating common issues associated like salt, sun, moisture and ongoing maintenance. It comes in a range of replicated timber species and retains its appearance, even in hard Australian conditions.
Made from 100% non-combustible aluminium, DecoDeck is an ideal decking solution for bushfire zones and offers optional cover strips for between its boards to achieve a BAL 40 or BAL FZ rating. It also has a P4 slip rating resistance which makes it suitable for pool decks and coastal walkways. And made from recyclable aluminium with a VOC-free finish, DecoDeck is a sustainable, long-term decking option.
The Good Design Awards jury praises DecoDeck for its cleverly-designed system, which helps elevate it in the architectural market: “Great use of 100% non-combustible aluminium is not only better from an environmental design point of view, but also a great solution for building in bushfire zones, coastal areas and for use in commercial walkways.”
DECO director and DecoDeck designer Ross Doonan says the award highlights DECO’s commitment to providing innovative solutions to the architectural market.
“DecoDeck is one of its kind: the perfect timber deck minus the fire risk, slip hazard and ongoing maintenance,” he says.
“Architects, designers and builders alike are beginning to recognise the significant long-term benefits of specifying DecoDeck, and this award will really hammer home what an amazing solution it is.”
