DecoDeck, the timber-look aluminium decking system by DECO Australia, has been granted a Standard Patent by IP Australia. Patents recognise and protect designs featuring a new and inventive step that differs from existing technology.

Made from solid aluminium extrusion and finished with durable sublimated polyurethan powder-coated DecoWood, the deck is a unique alternative on the market.

Featuring an inventive interconnecting board and connector design unlike any other decking option on the market. In 2020, the DecoDeck system received a Good Design Award for its unique design.

Receiving a patent means IP Australia has recognised that DecoDeck is not only one of a kind in the market, but a unique invention created by DECO Australia, and has therefore granted it protection against infringements or copying for the next 20 years in accordance with the Patents Act 1990.

“Receiving this patent is another great step in protecting Deco’s Intellectual Property, which comprises Patents and Trademarks,” DECO director Ross Doonan says.

“DECO takes a lot of care and time in creating product designs that service the needs of our customers, and we always strive to protect the creations of our talented team. We have quality products and inventive designs unlike anything else on the market today, and it is crucial to protect both our products and designs.”
