Instant Products Group designs portable bathroom solution for regional and remote areas

Instant Products Group has designed a portable bathroom solution for regional and remote areas, like worksites, to reduce costs and issues around access to power and water.

Portable bathroom facilities are often used in regional and remote areas to support events, during bushfires and natural disasters and on remote work sites. There’s been difficulties with the cost of transporting to site and ensuring adequate onsite water and power supply.

The Western Australia-based company designed a towable block of 13 toilets that are self-contained with water and waste while being powered by solar.

“Initially, we were looking at ways to bring transport costs down, as this can be a significant barrier to bringing these facilities to the regions, particularly for councils with smaller budgets,” Instant Products Group managing director Scott Rawson says.

“We then realised we had the technology and ability to be able to solve all three problems, while also maintaining a high level of quality, hygiene and comfort.”

Making the facilities portable removes the need for a tilt tray truck to transport to and from site, which reduces set-up times.

“Traditionally portable facilities need to be loaded onto a truck, driven to site, unloaded and connected to power and water, before eventually being reloaded and driven back again.”

“Now the entire unit can be driven to the exact location required and it’s virtually ready to go, with its own water and power supply.”
