ABCB announces fourth Consultation Regulation Impact Statements open for public comment
The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) has announced that the consultation period for commercial energy efficiency changes proposed in the National Construction Code (NCC) 2019 is open.
These changes are the one of four Consultation Regulation Impact Statements (RIS’) that the ABCB is seeking feedback on. The other three Consultation RIS’ – accessible adult change facilities in public buildings, fire safety in Class 2 and Class 3 residential buildings and heating and cooling load limits in residential buildings – are already open for public comment.
The energy efficiency of commercial buildings Consultation RIS assesses the impact of proposed stringency changes to the energy efficiency provisions of Section J for NCC 2019 Volume One. It is accompanied by an Energy Action report that models the impact of the proposed changes across four different building types in all climate zones.
Due to the delayed release of the energy efficiency of commercial buildings Consultation RIS, the Public Comment Draft for Section J, NCC 2019 Volume One has been extended until Friday 20 April 2018.
Feedback on all other available Consultation RIS’ and proposed changes in the NCC 2019 Public Comment Draft (excluding Section J, NCC 2019 Volume One) is open until close of business on Friday 13 April 2018.
Comments are invited on the questions contained within the response sheets and can be submitted to abcbris@abcb.gov.au.
The Consultation RIS’, the supporting Energy Action report and the NCC 2019 Public Comment Draft can be downloaded from the ABCB Resource Library.
