CSR Gyprock Red Book celebrates 21 years
CSR Gyprock is celebrating 21 years of supporting architects, engineers and other design professionals with its industry staple, The Red Book. Marking the occasion, Gyprock has extended into three separate books for enhanced navigation, functionality and efficiency.
First published in 1999, The Red Book is firmly entrenched as a resource staple within the design and construction community.
“Gyprock has developed effective, practical and cost-effective systems for most applications over the last 70 years,” CSR Gyprock executive general manager, Cemintel and Himmel interior systems Andrea Pidcock says.
“Extensive testing has been carried out on the systems and components in the Red Book Design Guide, including fire, acoustic, thermal, weather resistance and structural properties. To complement this program, Gyprock has obtained assessments from appropriate authorities on the likely performance of many details and system variations, providing expert opinions based on test results.”
Lendlease senior design manager, Randwick campus redevelopment Lovro Smoljo says the book has a reputation for giving architects with the information required to document projects sufficiently and accurately.
“The manual assists in finalising the construction stages of projects, provides builders with essential system information for construction and cost estimation and, in particular, the health sectors, which rely heavily on the Red Book due to the vast and complex range of partitions systems in hospitals. I highly recommend this manual for everyone in the building and construction industry,” he says.
The 21st edition dedicated sectors includes Book 1 Design Guide – Fire, Acoustic and Thermal; Book 2 Residential Guide – Class 1 & 10 Buildings and Book 3 Commercial & Multi-Residential Installation Guide Class 2–9 Buildings.
